Newsletter Vol XXI-XXXIV - disclaimer: These newsletters contain erroneous or outdated information. Consult The Vick Genealogy: The Study of a Southern American Family in White and Black, by John D. Beatty, CG®, for the latest research on the first seven generations of Joseph Vick and his descendants.
But all good things must come to an end and these Newsletters are now supplemented by a new two volume book set that is now in print. There were many corrections & omissions resolved over the last 20 years in this new book. The progress on finding Joseph1's parents is still evolving, yet James Larry Vick & his group are working the DNA trail. While Larry is an expert in DNA genealogy, it is only a matter of time before we find a connection to Joseph1's ancestors.
It has been a generation since we started published these Newsletter. This time has enabled John Beatty to write a much more complete and thorough history that extends our genealogy to the sixth and seventh generations. In addition, John has added, where possible, the history of Blacks associated with the Vick family either through marriage, children, or slavery. We believe this is one of the first genealogies of an ante-bellum southern family to include this expanded family of white and black members. This book was made possible due to John Beatty’s tireless research into our family. This new book was printed by Walsworth Inc, yes in the good old USA.
